I have been PADI certified since 2000, my first class was on the night of September 11, that fated day. I did my training dives in Monterey, where we couldn't see anything. But that October we went to Hawaii, and I have also been to Baja, MX. I love it, but that's it so far besides dives in my neighbor's backyard or once on an underwater clean up of Lake Berryessa up here in Napa.

I had two more kids in the last 8 years too, so that slowed me down a bit (I have 4 total). But I want to get back into it. My husband is into backpacking, so I decided back in the winter to schedule a few trips just for me. I am going diving with a girlfriend from quebec that is meeting me in Miami and we were going to try to go to the Florida keys. We only have 4 days, so can only dive one, but does anyone know where to stay down there? The best dive operators, sites...this is my first foray into this board, I'm sure that may be posted here somewhere...I am also diving in Cabo San Lucas in January...

I look forward to getting to know more in this community. I love scuba, even though I don't do it anywhere near as much as I want to. One day...

I do want to go to Key Largo and dive down to the "jesus statue." Does anyone know anything about that?

Welcome to scubaboard :)

Why not dive local? There is a forum dedicated to NorCal divers. http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/norcal/
We have some of the most remarkable diving around. Even after a warm water trip, I am always happy to return to California waters.

Hey what is wrong with backpacking? My mom won't go either, but the boys plan a fun filled trip every year.

Welcome to the board.

Lots of fabulous diving in Monterey and there abouts. OK it is cold water diving, but folks from Europe come here to dive our kelp forest.

Welcome back to diving.
