I'm a Fish!
Hello all. My name is Bruce Plazyk , aka FauxFish, and I am glad to be a member of ScubaBoard.com. I was originally certified with PADI in June of 1970. In fact Ralph Erickson was my instructor. This only means something to the older members of the group. I was re-certified in 2001 with NAUI when I retook diving lessons when my son got certified.

My passion is wet submersibles and over the years I have built 5 of them. Two are powered and 3 are human-powered that my son and I have raced at the International Submarine Races in Bethesda, Maryland. I currently am working on a couple of new subs for the recreation, commercial and military markets.

After I was originally certified I bought a complete set of US Divers diving gear from wet suit to knife for $327. Times sure have changed.

Anyway, As I said I am glad to be part of this group and I hope to be an asset to it.

I got recertified, not because of any requirement but because my son wanted to take diving lessons and since I had to drive him I figured I may as well get wet too. Plus taking a refresher course couldn't hurt either. The funny thing was that my fins were older than everyone in the course including the instructor.
