Greetings everybody. I think there is a trend going on here with new divers in my age group (41 yrs old). I got my open water certification last June one weekend in Lake Rawlings, Virginia. I'm only at around 10 dives, but I love this new sport. A few weeks after my OW cert, I was able to go on a motorcycle trip (another hobbie) to Florida and do a little diving in the Keys. That's where I really got hooked. Since then, I bought a full set of gear (aside from a tank) including a Pro Plus 2 computer. Of course it's freezing up here in Northern Virginia right now, so my 3 mil isn't going to do much good. Fortunately, work (gubmint) has me traveling around the country every month or so; which gives me an oportunity to bring my dive gear and take an extra day to hit the water.
I'm taking the Auto Train to Florida next week, and after Christmas with my sister/parents in Tampa; I'll be driving to the Keys for New Years. I made a reservation to dive Crystal River while in Tampa, but I plan to dive in Key Largo, Looe Key, and Key West. I'll post more details in the South Florida subforum.
I just signed up for the Advanced OW with my local instructor. I might try to get some of the "in water" stuff done while in Florida, like a night, wreck or deep dive.
Anyway, I look forward to learning a lot from this board, and I hope to see some of you in the water in the near future.
