Hi,

I'm from Montreal PQ Canada, 22 of age, and an avid diver (of course!).

I dive since 1996, currently in university, where I study (among other things) maritime archeology. I dived mostly cold waters, St-Lawrence river and gulf, Gaspesie, etc.

I posted my first thread today in the Gear section (it's a Zeagle BCD review, feel free to check it out) but I have been lurking for a while here.

This place is a goldmine of info, and I look forward to be a part of it.

That said, have a good one, and be safe!

Bienvenue à bord!

Please post your dive reports in the Eastern Canada sub-forum. An increasing number of divers in New Brunswick are interested at diving in Québec. Despite the whole diving permit thing, it seems that every diver I know wants to dive the 'Empress of Ireland', and despite the fact that most of them don't speak French, they've expressed interest in exploring other parts of Québec. I think any information you can share about your dives will be greatly appreciated.

Bonnes bulles!

Merci pour le mot de bienvenue! :satisfied:

I will, as soon as I resume diving (I'm back in class for the moment, I'm somewhat busy).

Quebec has a lot of nice dive spots for those who don't mind chilly waters. I'll try to dig up details about places I've dived enough to actually make solid recommendations about.

The Empress is quite a tough dive (I'll wait 'til I have a few more dives under my belt to consider it), but it must be worth it. The conditions can be very difficult. I can think of many shipwrecks that are very enjoyable without risking one's life, lol! The former RCN destroyer Nipigon was sunken for recreative purposes last summer in the river, not too far from Rimouski. Very nice spot. There's one off Lunenburg in NS that's awesome too (my first major wreck dive, unforgetable except for the name, which escapes me at the moment).

Cheers and be safe.

Sounds like the 'Saguenay'. It is indeed a very popular site in the Maritime Provinces and it is one of my favourite getaways.
