Anyone want to dive Niagara Falls this weekend? We can suit up and just plunge over the falls and right into the water! Doesn't that sound like a blast???

What on Earth was that moron thinking the other day????

I'm just assuming he was trying to commit suicide. But I have absolutely NO CLUE what the idiot was thinking.

Has anyone ever survived a plunge before besides in barrels?

Yeah, I think a few have, but I couldn't give you an exact number. I don't think you could get odds in Vegas on surviving, though.

CincyBengalsFan once bubbled...

There's another thread that was started yesterday on this - don't remember what it was called or anything pertinent to help you search for it, though.
I only say that because that thread had a number of links posted to different articles on this inicident. I think I read in them that there was only 1 person to have ever survived such a fall without being in a barrell or other device, but that person was a young child (approx 6 years old, if I remember correctly) who had fallen in.

According to the story I saw on the news, a 7 yo kid did survived an accidental fall over the side. He was the only one to make it without a barrel before this guy.

The suicide theroy may be correct. The guy's brother was on TV this morning. The brother didn't say as much. However he did say that his brother was recently unemployed. His parents were moving out of the area. He had no wife or children. No prospects for the futher.

But did anyone get a name for this gentleman?

Maybe you should start out with the falls at Aquarena Spring and hold off on Niagra until you get your AFD cert.

At least you were looking to go with a buddy rather than risk your life solo diving. You never know what can happen.

I heard he carried a spare air.

here's the thread: thread

Charges have been laid in this incident.

Apparently no one has survived going over the US falls. The child that survived had on a lifejacket (for the record).

I hope that there isn't going to be any back lash on the diving industry because of one idiot.

By the way diverlady, love what you have done to your profile. LOL
