Yeah, Terraserver is a cool toy/tool. I was amazed to see the skinny sidewalk that goes from my house to my barn :)

Awesome... it would be nice to locate new wrecks using satellite photos :o)

Satellite photos of the St. Lawrence between Brockville and Cornwall.... you can scroll around and zoom up to 1meter square resolution. I found some garbage cans on Sparrow Island and the shoal I hit, but I couldn't see the Lilly (too deep).

Apparently Maptech offers worldwide Digital Charts, charts.. and Offshore Navigator. Once you have that decide which region you need and pay $499.95 - $599.95 for each (i.e. MRN02 - Block Island RI to Canadian Border). That's a bit too much for my wallet :o)

Pretty cool application though.

You can also flip terraserver into topographic mode which is neat. I also found this last night - nautical charts an interactive nautical chart..
I've always found mapping and charting interesting... I can't wait to get into sidescan sonar.

What would be cool is if you could move/rotate/zoom all in real time... although it would be even cooler if they put the rest of Canada back on the map!!! :)

It would be cool, but then it would defeat the whole that microsoft put the Terraserver together in the first place. 'Terra' is supposed to be a play on the words for earth and trillion. They did it to prove that SQLServer is scalable enough to handle more than a tera-byte of data. Regardless, it still is pretty cool. I think that anymore, most of the pictures are USGS photos (that's why there's no Canada), but at first, they were using declassified Soviet photos. I couldn't find my house because they had the whole town 'blanked' out because of the nearby millitary base :)
