Hey guys - not sure where to post this -

I'm using vPlanner for the first time, and am trying to figure it out. Is there a way to configure it to "combine" deco stops? For example, the output I get is:

Dec to 130ft (2) Air 50ft/min descent.
Level 130ft 22:24 (25) Air 1.01 ppO2, 130ft ead
Asc to 100ft (26) Air -30ft/min ascent.
Asc to 70ft (27) Air -30ft/min ascent.
Asc to 60ft (27) Nitrox 50 -30ft/min ascent.
Stop at 60ft 0:40 (28) Nitrox 50 1.38 ppO2, 26ft ead
Stop at 50ft 1:00 (29) Nitrox 50 1.24 ppO2, 19ft ead
Stop at 40ft 2:00 (31) Nitrox 50 1.09 ppO2, 13ft ead
Stop at 30ft 2:00 (33) Nitrox 50 0.94 ppO2, 7ft ead
Stop at 20ft 4:00 (37) Nitrox 50 0.79 ppO2, 0ft ead
Stop at 10ft 8:00 (45) Nitrox 50 0.65 ppO2, 0ft ead
Surface (45) Nitrox 50 -30ft/min ascent.

Is there a way to configure it to do say, 4 min at 40, and 14 min at 20? rather than doing 1/2 dozen little stops?

Or set it to have 15-20ft be my last stop depth?

I guess the other obvious question to ask is "Is it safe to do this?"

Thanks for helping out!

D.

D,

You might want to pose this question in the tech diving sub-forum. Might get more views by those that use "V".

Presumably you would use V-Planner because of the data it provides you for deco diving. You tell it how deep you want to go, for how long, and on what gases and it will tell you what you need to do (basically). You can adjust conservatism, extend stops, etc., etc. I'm just curious with this question, on what basis would you develop a different deco profile?

You can set your last stop depth to 15' or 20' in the configuration options for V-planner. As for the 1/2 dozen little stops, you can reduce them by changing your ascent rate to 10 fpm once you do your gas switch. That will get rid of your 60 and 50 foot stops and you'll start at 40'. It's much simpler to write on a slate as well. :D

Whats does your training say about this?

If you play with it you´ll see that it doesen´t penalize you for moving time shallow, to the deeper stops (within reason)...
Just plug in the numbers and see what comes out...

If I remember correctly, you can also set it to do stops in 20ft graduations instead of 10. My memory isn't what it used to be though! :)

Okay.. it's the "stop size" and "last stop depth" I needed to configure. The reason why i was asking is that the guy I'm diving with this weekend was using decoplanner and had different depth stops. His was 60, 40, 20... and I had 60,50,40,30, etc...

If I change stop size to 20 and stop depth to 20 I get exactly what his deco was..

Thanks for the help everyone!

One other question, do you use the "accelerate stops" option?

Isn't that for oxygen deco? Are you taking oxygen with you?
