There is currently no direct ferry from Roatan to Utila. You take the Galexy from Roatan to La Ceiba & switch to the Princess (they're next to each other at the dock) which brings you to Utila.

Atlantic Air does run a 'direct' flight on Saturdays. By direct I mean they may go to La Ceiba 1st to offload passengers. Just depends on how many passengers they have for each destination, which one they go to 1st.

There's also Roatan Air, a charter service, that runs an Aztec & a Cessna which may actually be a better option if you're bringing extra luggage, as you've chartered the whole Cessna to yourself. It's a bit higher then Atlantic, but not so terribly high it's unaffordable. We've used it several times to go visit friends in Roatan.

Got an email back from Andrew in Tampa (Jackson shipping) He claims they are "currently" out of business. Not sure what that means, but they are not providing any services at this time.

Jay

'Currently' means they blew an engine outside of Florida on the return leg & had to be towed back to Tampa. They are 'currently' towing the boat back to RTB, heard they just rounded Barbaretta. Not sure how long engine repairs are estimated to take. Don't count them out altogether, but yes - for now anyway, they're down till they get the engine fixed.

scuba jay -

i live in lakeland, but found flights to raotan for 264 on orbitz.com from miami. direct and two hours. now i am from south florida, so i am spending friday and saturday night down south, which helps the sting of the drive. I would rather spend four hours in my car than risk transferring planes - especially when it comes to transferring my gear. if my stuff gets delayed - even for a couple days, thats most of my trip.

WoW thats cheap...ill have to check that out. Thanks for the info!! What dates are you traveling and thru what airlines?

Jay

may 20 thru the 27th. TACA is the airline, but its thru orbitz. WHen i tried to book thru TACA is was much more expensive.

If i remeber correctly, when i was choosing dates, flights for the week before and the week after were more expensive too. maybe i just got lucky.

best of luck!

If I leave on the Roatan ferry to Laciba on the afternoon, what are my chances to get on the ferry that is going to Utila?
