Hi everyone,
I have a specific situation I'm looking for recommendations on.
The wife and I booked a cruise next year that will stop in Cozumel (already booked, it was almost free and this was a date/itinerary that worked for us). I definitely am going to dive and would like to do two tanks. The problems I have are that according to the itinerary we don't arrive on the island until noon, and my wife (a non-diver with no interest in snorkeling) is worried about getting to a beach club or day pass resort by herself. Also, it doesn't look like Norweigian cruises do any "in-house" dive excursions (or at least I haven't seen any to choose from).
I've started searching for either a resort that does day passes and has an on-property operation or an operation that is located close by to a resort that does day passes where I can drop her off for a while to enjoy fruity drinks and either meet her or pick her up when I'm done. I've looked at Dressel at the Iberostar. On the surface, this looks like the perfect location but it takes about 25 minutes to get there. So if it takes a while to get off the boat, plus a cab ride, it's going to be very hard to get there by their 1:15 pm first-afternoon dive slot and get two tanks in. Just doing one tank isn't the end of the world but I want to maximize the opportunity and I'd hate to miss the deeper, probably more exciting, first afternoon dive.
I'm hoping I can find an operation that meets the parameters of closer (than Iberostar) to the cruise piers/downtown, resort onsite or close by, or more flexible in their afternoon dive times.
Any thoughts, ideas, or recommendations? Thanks!!
