:confused:I have a Canon s95. I am wanting to do the CHDK thing now that I know my camera. For the life of me I cannot get this procedure to give me the firmware version...argh!

I have combed the internet and this board and I am doing exactly what it says (as far as I can tell) and I still get the clock when I push func/set and then display. I have tried one file, two files, both files in the root drive. I am saving them as unicode plain text files. I have tried pushing both buttons simultaneously and fund/set then display. Still cant get anything but the clock. I am very computer savvy but this is killing me.

Also--is there someone out there that will do this for me for a fee?

Thanks so much

Ok--I think I have it but I have a couple questions.......Im a bit confused as to how this works. If I put it in ALT mode, should I be able to take pics? I cant. The menu system---when CHDK is installed do I specifically use that menu for all my functions or can I use the additions thru my regular menu? It appears that when I am in ALT mode I cannot use (nor take pics) my rings and stuff.

I desperately want to use (I think it might be your script) that will enable TTL on my manual settings......

Thanks so much for the guidance as I have been following your stuff on CHDK and you rock at doing it apparently! Thanks so much!

Well when I turn on my camera, it does say autostart...and finished with the default script. Is that what you mean? After working with this I am thinking that in order to shoot I have to hit the menu button and then the shutter button. I guess all the extras are there behind the scene? I see some icons on my screen I didnt have before but I dont know what some of them mean. I am now looking for a dummy guide as to what these items in the ALT menu mean and what choice I need to make. SOme are clear-cut, others are not. Any suggestions for a reference?

When you have a Mac, everything that was easy is now hard, every thing that was hard, is now harder. I have a Mac, I also have a Windows machine to do everything that the Mac cannot do at all which is considerable. The Cult of Mac will never admit it of course.

His issue is CHDK not the mac, the installation has gone fine he does not understand how to use the hack for which there is a comprehensive manual on the net
Another issue is that the S100 uses the shortcut button for a few things and with chdk you loose the ability but other people have find a solution
Nothing to do with mac just CHDK

Op``;you need to put my script in the scripts folder and then read the manual on how to launch it at start

I agree--its not the Mac. I think I have figured this out for the most part. The instructions that I have come across just dont make it clear that once its on your camera, it really works behind the scenes as you normally use the camera. I thought it was an alternate way of using the camera and it isn't. I hope my conclusion is correct here. I am spending some time now with the scripts and see if I can install it--I think this is going to be much easier than the CHDK install. Wish me luck!

OK--so the script is giving me a parse error. No big deal I will try to do this again. Another question though.......so if I want to shoot at a faster shutter speed than what is on the s95 menu, I need to go into the chdk menu and set it. close out the ALT. I am assuming that at this point I can only use this setting--in order to change it I have t go back into the ALT menu and change--is there a faster way?
