I got myself a Ike DS-125 strobe, but its an older one so I will need to send it to the factory to update the circuitry if I want to use it with a G9 with Ike housing.

Now I am thinking maybe there is another way around it. Buying the Patima housing could be an option, since it says that its optical TTL, will it work then?

im quite the newbie when it comes to strobes and uw equipment. :dork2:

I hope someone can enlighten me. Other options I dont know about are very welcome as well.

Thanks

I have had no problems using an older (not updated for iTTL) DS-125 with a new Ikelite housing and 400D. My understanding is that the update provides "optimum exposure in rapid firing situations". Maybe somebody has more info on how it will work with your G9 though.

Very strange, on the Ikelite website it says that you need an update for it to work, but in the manual for the housing it says just like you just posted, that it will improve the strobe. Hmm, dont know if I should send it in or not.

What could it hurt if you update it? It certainly has to less expensive than buying a Patima housing. Have you priced those? You could buy a brand new 125 strobe for less than the Patima housing and have TTL.
