Hello,

I'm Michael Bear, Citizen Science Project Director for an ocean non-profit based out of San Diego, California, called Ocean Sanctuaries, and we specialize in supporting and creating marine citizen science projects.

One of our largest project, one that dates back to 2010, is the Sevengill Shark ID Project, which began in San Diego, but has now expanded to included a citizen science partnership with the Two Oceans Aquarium in Cape Town. See link below for more information on that:

Citizen science: You can take part in a global sevengill shark identification project

We are looking for divers in the False Bay area to help us get side shots of the gill area of Sevengill sharks so that we can submit them to a pattern recognition program and determine if certain animals are returning from year to year.

We also have a Zero data project, where you can console yourself after a day of seeing NO Sevengills in False Bay, and tell us about that, because NO sharks is data too. :)

See link below for that--scroll down below the Wildbook logo here:

Ocean Sanctuaries' Sevengill Shark Sightings

If any of you are curious about the scientific methodology we use, see this link:
Our Methodology: Introduction | Ocean Sanctuaries' Sevengill Shark Sightings

Many thanks in advance and please do not endanger yourself to take photographs!

Cheers,

Michael Bear
