Help please.. I think this is some kind of clam.. but not sure

This was found in the Coral Sea at Osprey Reef. I think it was about 2 inches or so.
There were plenty of giant clams around but this seems more like some kind of a file clam. I have searched the books and the internet to no avail.
Any ideas .. Thanks!

I was thinking that it was a scallop, but couldn't find anything as colorful in the books or through a search. A little more searching this morning and I found a picture taken for National Geographic in 1995 that was the same species (Reef Scallop).

Apparently the red/orange dots are its eyes! Fantastic.
I remember seeing scallops swimming for the first time in Quadra Island and that was quite an experience. I recall thinking that they swam just like they did in the cartoons.
