i saw a used d70s with ikelite housing and strobes for that price. check out the camera classifieds here and on wetpixel. there is also a subal housing/camera package for around that price.
rjdm - are you only looking at Nikon? If you are open to other brands, I can move this to the main uw photo area for you so more of our members will see it faster!
I'd fall off my chair in surprise if you could pick up a used Subal for a dslr, much less the package, for $1500! That would likely be a good deal!
