OK, I've decided to upgrade my equipment to a DSLR. I've avoided it because there were two things I disliked about them
#1 I hated that you could not use the LCD screen to plan your shots.
#2 I didn't like the fact that every time you changed lenses, minute amounts of debris/dust would get into the camera causing eventual degredation of the images.

Well, the Oly E-330 addresses both issues well. Live view and a internal cleaning system. Yippee!

I am leaving for Borneo the middle of August. The challenge? getting the camera body, 14-54 mm lens, and Ikelite housing in time. My strobes will be fine with this system.

Does ANYONE know who might have that housing (#6853.3) available now? My website info says it will be out in July, but there seem to be plenty of pictures of the housing bouncing around. Yeah, I know about promo pics.

Any help will be more than appreciated!!

I was looking at the camera yesterday...sweet. May I ask why you are choosing the Ikelite housing over the olympus housing?

Seriously leesa??? I see you on all the major boards and still you ask this question?

;)

From pictures, the Olympus housing for the E-330 does not look like the pass Olympus housings for the PS cameras. They are more like the Ikelite housings made of heavier duty materials, plus the Olympus housings will be using real optical glass for their ports, Ikelite I believe will be using plastic.

Just looked and saw that the oly housing is good up to 60m/196'...not bad

I have, a couple of times....no problems. I do know that the California one is better than the east coast one though.

I don't like the latches and o-ring systems oly uses on their other housings and can only assume are using there too. They are fraught with issues. Materials are lighter.

Ike has an excellent customer service and makes a more reliable product IMHO. The o-ring visuals make it difficult to make a mistake, unless you are a real slacker.

Stll no one knows of their availability?
