While snorkeling in Saipan, my wife and I spotted a very interesting-looking fish.
We found a couple of them on a branch coral, which looked very much like a fig of a branch, had what we thought four ventral fins that actually looked like legs.
When we tried to scare them away, they first sprang to the sand bottom, and then moved in a series of "springs" on the sand bottom, instead of swimming.

From their appearance, they looked like lizards, so we searched for lizard fish photos on the web, which did not match the appearance of what we saw.

Could anyone help me identify this fish?

Saipan pygmy goby is my guess.

Here is a link, but your fish is not pictured. Similar fishes are. Hope it helps.
