Ok i bought a tek 60 back inflate and its great under the water.but sucks on the surface. can you all tell me a good one thats not real expensive. And wont keep your face in the water,But has all the perks of a tek BC with all the d rings and clips for toys

Don't overinflate the bladder and it won't push your face in the water!

Remember you only need to add enough air for your face to clear and not your weight belt.

Not inexpensive, but Aeris Atmos XT. Another way to reduce tendency of bc to push you face down is to use a weight belt rather than integrated weights. Aeris is integrated but weights pockets can be removed and spaces used as ordinary pockets. Also Aeris has a small amount of side inflation to help keep steady on the surface. Front is open with 4 D - rings.

And I would add to not over inflating.......

Place your weights as far back toward the plate as possible....that helps. And you can get tank weights as well...but i am not wild about them

Follow this recommendation.

Also, you can consider placing your weights on the tank cam straps. This will help off-set the weights with better balance.

be familiar with your rig and how you get positioned on it. like the guys said,

1. don't over inflate
2. weights positioning
3. if you can adjust the position of your rig
4. get used to it that when you are on the surface you are more leaning back, i always lie on my back and rest while on surface. i do is i pull the BC down on my sides and then lean back and lie down and rest..... and enjoy floating.....

Some good suggestions above. Plus, you don't dive at the surface . . . unless you are an instructor who gives not very brief briefings before each dive while floating on the surface!

All of the above mentioned about inflation and weighting and I'd suggest dropping the AL tank for a steel. Since doing that I dont carry any (or very little) weight, in fact I'm a bit over weighted, and I've noticed the weight being on my back has made it MUCH easier for the Easy Chair effect on the surface. :)

Try this, It works for me.
Inflate it all the way on the surface, arch your back and skull kick your fins to roll you on top of it, you may have to add one good back stroke with your arms at the same time. It's like floating on an innertube with your fins pointing out of the water. Ive been using a back inflate for 20+ years, there sweet.

once you go back you'll never go back!? ???

That's just not right is it?????
