Anyone have info. for liveaboards leaving Miami and going to the Bahamas, outside of Blackbeard's but in their price range?

Thanks.

If you consider Fort Lauderdale Miami and you consider $1366 in the same price range as $819. ( I know a guy in rec.scuba that thinks Nekton at $1300-$1500 is "just a little more" the BB's )

www.seafever.com

Frankly there isn't another operation out there like Blackbeards. Did you have a bad exeperience with them or just looking for something to compare to?

Had a great experience with them.

Problem is the dive club I'm a part of is trying to plan a trip in May, and Blackbeard's is pretty much full :(

Yeah, $1300 is a little much, it's a college dive club...

Just noticed that this thread is rather old. Anyway...

Many operators don't originate from South Florida anymore, requiring you to join the boat at a Bahamain port. (If Blackbeard's isn't already doing this, I think they're planning on it). Fuel costs and Homeland Security have changed the parameters.

Easy Goin' (www.paradisecharters.com) still goes from Fort Lauderdale. Gulfstream Eagle (www.gulfstreameagle.com) still goes from West Palm. Jim Abernethy still goes there too.

Everybody's price has gone up. Blackbeard's is probably still cheapest, even if you add the airfare.

you want to go cheap and spartan, the Ultimate Getaway is an option also. But he only does something like 3 or 4 day charters.

You'll find their calendar full. Check to see who's booked it. most likely it's a dive shop that is re-selling the charter to their customers. Then just book it direct through the dive shop. You've got a much better chance of going anyway if it's a whole charter booked instead of "individual bookings" with them. They have a tendancy of canceling an "individual bookings" trip a day or two before they leave because they haven't booked enough people to "justify" the trip. Problem is this leaves you high and dry with little warning and a wasted airline ticket.

BTW.. they leave out of Ft Myers and do the Tortugas, not the Bahamas.
