Hi, Drrich:
I don't dive locally anymore; last time was about 9-10 years ago. I used to dive off Santa Catalina Island quite a bit in the summer months, back in the late 90's. Are you familiar with the diving out here?

Just from a Truth Aquatics limited load Southern Channel Island live-aboard trip last August (trip report). Good diving. Different from the Caribbean, but it offers kelp, seals & sea lions, so it's got plenty of charm.
