My name is Pete, and I am new to diving. I just got certified in August of this year. Over the weekend I went to Gilboa Quarry in Ohio to dive, and it was really cool. I only had one problem toward the end of my first dive when I had a freak out moment, because in my head 800 psi was a small amount of air, not sure why. I am not sure if my freak out moment was because I was on edge before even going into the water, but I do not want it to happen again, because I did a big no no and shot up to the surface from 40 feet. I know that can be pretty bad when in deeper water, so I came to scubaboard in search of tips and advice. I am going to begin searching threads, but if anyone has any tips for calming your self under water, they will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

With more dives thing will get better .the more time you spend in the water the more comfortable you will be . You will learn how much air "YOU" WILL USE AND HOW LONG THAT 800 PSI WILL LAST YOU . Find a good dive buddy with some dive under his belt (mentor) that will help you with getting comfortable as you get more experience . Before you know it you will not have to think about it you will just know and understand where you are (as for your diving ). A good mentor realy helps . GET OUT THERE AND DIVE Dive , Dive. LOTS OF PRACTICES
