Hello everyone. I'm a new diver in training, in fact my open water certification is in less than two weeks from now. I've learned a lot of skills in the last four weeks and I'm still a little nervous going into open water but excited at the same time. My biggest obstacles right now are finding the right balance of my weight and developing my buoyancy. If anyone has any advice on preparing for open water I'm all ears. Thanks!

The biggest advice that comes to mind it to trust in the training you're receiving. Bouyancy can be tricky but it's easier than it seems. Will your check-out dives be in freshwater or salt-water?

Pay attention, have fun, and relax. Works for me (at least so far). Welcome aboard.

Woops, wrong button, because that is probably the single biggest factor. And a wet suit that you're not used to can make things a little different but your instructor should be able to make the calculations easily enough to help you out. The biggest thing is, have a good time. You'll love it. I started in scuba and was so addicted to it that I sprang for a lot of money and went to the full commercial diving side of it. Trust me and everyone else on here, it's one of the coolest things in the world.

Thanks! I had 3 dives in freshwater and 1 dive in saltwater and the buoyancy was pretty good for first time out. Had to make a few adjustments after making a buoyancy check. Overall had a great time and can't wait to go again.
