We are a family of 4…2 parents, 1 teenager, and 1 senior citizen…our dog Chase. We’ve come to realize that the traditional landlubber life has lost its’ flare, so we’ve decided to sell everything we own and purchase a bluewater yacht that will take us to places unknown around the world!

I am 35 years old and this plan of sailing the world has been a very real dream for me for about 5 years now. Before that it was just a mere thought. Our son is 14 and up until the last year, he had no interest of leaving land, school, and friends behind to live on a boat. So, a long-term plan it would remain for us until the day he came to me and said “I’ve changed my mind, I would really like to travel the world and surf the best spots.” That was about 6 months ago and we’ve talked of nothing else since then. He has dreams of becoming a professional surfer and wants to get out there and see what the world has to offer, so we hope to help him see those dreams come true.
I love the ocean and I love the outdoors. The three of us are all avid Scuba Divers; Dieter and I are working towards Instructor Certifications. We also plan to get our Captain’s Licenses so that one day, we may share our love of the ocean with others not so fortunate. But for now, we want to travel the world and enrich our son’s learning with experiences you simply can’t find in the classroom. We plan to do that by travelling to the world’s most unique destinations in search of cultural experiences, ultimate diving, and extreme surfing.

Follow along at Diving into Cruising - Liveaboard Family Sailing, Diving, and Surfing the World as we share everything that we learn along the way. Oh, and one more interesting tidbit….We have no idea how to sail yet! We look forward to learning and hope to gain valuable knowledge from our readers as well as pass it on to others along the way.

Welcome to SCUBAboard!

Go for It!

Thank you Beaver Divers! We can't wait to get to the point of actually purchasing our boat;)

I enjoyed checking out your blog, Britton. It's very inspiring, but with tons of practicality. I've bookmarked it, and will look in from time to time to follow your exciting journey.

Thanks Liz! I'm glad you enjoyed it. We love diving and basically anything that has to do with being outside and on the water. I am finding that I love writing too. Starting the blog has been a fun project for me and we look forward to sharing all of our experiences with our readers:cool2: Thanks for following!
