Hi guys! The last time I visited I was quite the beginner diver. Since then, I've become certified and have done a few dives locally. I've even been in 48F water with 2-3ft. viz; that was quite the challenge! During last two weeks this August, my father and I are heading down to Jewel Cay (off Utila) for two weeks of diving, and snorkeling. We hope to log in about 15 dives each, I'm excited already :D

Now, we are planning on getting an underwater camera that won't break the bank. I'd like to get something that takes both good quality photos, and video. I found this: Sea & Sea DX-1200 HD 12 Megapixel High Definition Still/Video Camera SS-06606 with reviews at scuba.com
Extra specs: http://www.absolutecamera.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=SS06606

Would this camera be a good choice?

Please let me know, THANKS! :scatter:

There is a specific sub-forum related to UW photography. Post there so every diver with UWP experience can see it.

or better yet get this thread moved to UW Photo so there aren't 2 of the same thread

I was also considering the DX1200HD. The High Def. Video was a big plus in my book, but I eventually went with Canon G10 because I had already had some basic P/S underwater photography experience and wanted something with manual controls with the ability to shoot RAW. For someone with little to no experience with underwater photography the DX1200Hd is a good choice to start with. Here's a post I started comparing the DX1200HD and the Sealife Dc1000. They are both good choices for starter systems. http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/underwater-photography/274149-sealife-dc1000-sea-sea-1200hd.html
