Hi everyone!

I'm Melissa, 21 and from Vancouver, BC. I recently became OW certified in Utila, Honduras in January with my boyfriend during out 6 week Central America trip. I always wanted to scuba dive since I was little and automatically fell in love with it. BEST MONEY I'VE EVER SPENT!

I have only dove in Utila and Little Corn Island (Nicaragua), but am I am currently looking into becoming dry-suit certified so I can dive in Vancouver's cold water!!!

My next dream destination to dive in South East Asia!

Looking forward to meeting new friends!
Melissa

Welcome to the board, if you need any recommendations for shops or instructors let me know!

Hi Melissa!

I did the opposite of what you did. I got certified in Puget Sound and just got back from my 1st warm water dives last week.

I'm doing dry suit orientation tomorrow! My 1st 6 dives I used a 7mm John & Jacket combo and I'm really looking forward to the increased flexibility and mobility of a dry suit. After warm water diving wearing just a skin the thought of gearing up in a wet suit isn't very appealing to me.

Don't be wary of the cold water. It's filled with tons of marine life around Vancouver. I actually went on a tropical vacation recently, and I actually prefer much of the Pacific Northwest diving. With a drysuit ($$$), it's actually quite comfortable. Plus the task-loading you'll practice here will translate well into becoming a better diver anywhere.
