My name is Mariel Strader and I am a newbie diver as of last fall (2010). I never though I would ever be underwater. As a child I almost drowned at the beach and from that point on, water was not my friend unless it came out of a shower head...lol.
I was lucky that my boyfriend and brother took a scuba course at our local community college and I tagged along and it really peeked my interest. So much that I asked them to teach me to swim so I could take the course. I can hands down tell you that my instructor, Donna Askew, is an angel as she demonstrated nothing but patience and understanding when it came to me being apprehensive about diving. I truly owe her for giving me the chance to be a part of such a wonderful world that not everyone gets to take part in.
I have fallen in love with diving that I have decided to open my own small online retail store. It has been a challenge but I welcome it and hope I can make it successful. I would love nothing more than to share the things that I love with others.
I hope to not only meet great people on here but also to network and learn all I can about Scuba.
