Hello all,

Just joined SB. I recently returned from Mindanao where I did some diving off of Duka Bay Resort. (Also, I snorkeled over a giant clam sanctuary off of nearby Camiguin Island.)

FYI, I'm looking for an inexpensive UW digital camera. (For example, I was just checking out the Intova 8MP Sport 8 Digital Camera.) If you have any thoughts on it or something better, please let me know!

Welcome to Scubaboard :)

Make sure to check out the local NorCal forum. Have you done any local diving yet? If not what are you waiting for?

Plenty of people are really happy with the Canon G11 in the Canon case. There is another section of this board dedicated to photography.

First off, welcome!

One of the things I like about the Intova Sport 8 is that by itself you can go down to 30ft. Add the housing and you got another 100ft. The newest Intova is the new IC12 (we don't have YET...) which has a comparable price. You can read about it on the Intova blog.

Keep in mind with a little more money you can buy a fairly cheap point-and-shoot with housing that will serve you well under and above the water.

welcome aboard

Welcome to diving, and to :sblogo:

I hope you intend to check out your local diving. I personally think the diving in Monterey is some of the best I've seen in the world, and I just got done with a road trip down there from Seattle because of that!

I join the others and say welcome to SB. This board is a good resource and the
NorCal forum is a friendly place to talk with the locals.

The deep Monterey Bay provides some of the best diving on the planet. An easy
drive from San Francisco with good dive stores, well run boats, and excellent shore
diving.

The North Coast also offers some spectacular shore diving. North or South you can
hardly go wrong.
