just stumbled across this site this evening...looks like a great site! i will be heading to the ft.lauderdale area here in a couple weeks,wondering if anyone has an input into a good dive shop to go to find out about a good place to get some shallow diving in just have open water cert. never been anywhere but quarries & lakes yet so kind of want to stay away from any drift dives for now, don't know if i'll get a chance to squeeze a day in or not but just want to maybe get my options in if so.

Welcome to Scubaboard. I myself stumbled across this site about 5 years ago. Seems that is one of the most common ways divers from this area find it. THe shops sure don't tell anyone about it. I try to tell all my students and anyone who will listen!
