Just registered on the board and I thought I would make a quick post and introduce myself to the community.
I got certified in 2001 when I was in college and did a fair amount of diving in the Puget Sound and a bit off the Oregon coast while finishing up my degree in Computer Science at Oregon State. After I graduated I traded in my fins for a snowboard when I took a job in Bend, OR. I have done a few tropical dives when on vacation in Cancun / Cozumel and on a trip to the Galapagos (snorkel only
), but the bulk of my time has been spend cold water diving.
I am back in Corvallis now and a recently certified friend's interest in cold water diving has gotten me back into the scene. While researching some gear upgrades I came across ScubaBoard and have been using it as a resource to get up to date on the developments in diving since I left. Thanks everyone for all the informative posts and entertaining stories
.
On a local note I would love to get tied back in to the local dive scene, so if anyone knows of a dive club operating out of the Corvallis area or is diving around the here it would be great to hear from you. The bulk of my diving experience has been in Hood Canal, but I'd really like to branch out and find some more shore dive locations in Oregon and Washington, any local knowledge or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Nice to meet everyone and I will see you on the boards.
Thanks,
Aaron
