Also from Ohio. Just got my Advance Open Water at Gilboa. I have many dives in warm ocean water but never a fresh water quarry! I joined this forum to stay connected with divers and the sport.

Welcome. While I'm in the southwestern part of KY, some divers in the northern part of the state participate in a Facebook group called Kentucky Piranha Patrol. If you haven't heard of them yet, it might be worthwhile to look them up.

Yes, around the Christmas tree to the tubes 47 degrees at 64 feet. It was brutal.

I've never been to Gilboa quarry; down in southwestern KY there's Pennyroyal Blue Springs Resort, a nice quarry that tends to run mid.-40s down deep, below the 2nd thermocline, when I dove there (not lately). I'm not trained in or a user of dry suits, so even with hood and gloves, in a wetsuit, that's scary cold.
