I'm new around here - just thought I'd say "Hi!" to you fine folks. I've been looking for a scuba forum, and this one looks great. I'm currently taking the NAUI Scuba Diver course with a local dive shop here in Greensboro, and looking forward to diving off the coast of NC and to a trip to the Caribbean (Grand Cayman) this fall.

I'm looking forward to learning more from you guys!

welcome to the board from Raleigh. Come join us at the quarry some time.

Thanks for the links, murphdivers286 - that's one of the things that impressed me about this forum - the way things are laid out makes it easy to find topics that apply to each person. Very helpful!

Herman - ah, another fellow North Carolinian! I'm going to take my OW test in a quarry most likely, but I don't know which one, or even if there is more than one. I'm actually a Virginian, and have been in NC less than 5 years. For all I know, the quarry IS in Raliegh.

Scott - I'll definately check out the NC Wreck forum - I'm interesting in diving some of the wrecks off the NC coast. The guys at the dive shop are trying to get me to go this summer.

Thanks, guys!

Welcome to the Board. Check out the NC Wreck Divers Forum.
I think the NC Wreck Divers are scheduling a trip Bluestone Quarry in Thomasville in Mid May. Come out for a dive.

There are 2 "public" quarries in NC-Roleville and Blue Stone and several "private" quarries, plus Lake Rawlings in Va- about 35 miles north of the NC/VA border on I85. My guess is that you will use Bluestone Quarry (east of Ashboro off of US 64). Do come join in any of the NC wreckdives events.Lots of great people and good divers. While the quarries are kind of boring they are a great place to sharpen your skills and there is no better way than to dive with other good divers.
