Hello, thinking of signing up to get the Open water certification.I really want to do this but am concerned about finding a dive buddy. Can you guys give me some advice on this?..I wonder how willing experienced divers are to dive with a new diver??.I have no friends that are interested in doing this with me.

Jason.

I myself am a new diver and have found that many experienced divers enjoy diving with newbies. You just have to go along with their program, which is fine in my book, as I always learn something from the "elders".
Take the class, get your card, and you will find lots of people to dive with.
In all honesty I am very surprised that none of your friends are willing to learn to dive. In my group once one person got certified most of the rest followed suit.

Well sounds good!!,Hopefully my Dirt bike sells soon so i can go in with all my own gear.I Don't want to try to learn on rental stuff and get used to buoyancy on equipment that is not mine.

Hey Jason,

Welcome to ScubaBoard If and when you decide to get your certification you will most likely have not much of a problem finding dive buddies. Most dive shops have in house groups and weekend dives, also there are clubs you could join as well. The two closest dive shops to you are south shore skin divers in Weymouth Welcome to South Shore Divers or North Atlantic Scuba in Marshfield North Atlantic Scuba Both are good shops.
This is one of the local clubs South Shore Neptunes You have some good dive sites in and around Cohasset Black Rock beach, Gun Rock beach, Brant Rock. There are some guys more local to you that post in the NELD forums New England Lobsta Divahs - ScubaBoard hear on the board. This site has more NE info as well Scuba-Newengland.com - scuba diving, massachusetts, maine, rhode island, new england, cape cod, dive shops, diving centers, boston hope this info helps you out.

Awesome thanks for the links!.The dive shop i have chose is South shore divers. While talking to one of my customers the other day turns out he works there.
