Glad I found this place! I'm a 37 year old LA native. While I don't dive, I do snorkel. I've been fortunate to live in places where one could snorkel right off the beach while not wearing a wet suit (I hate wearing them!). Lived in HI on the Big Island and would snorkel after work with turtles, and lived in San Diego where you often see leopard sharks. The last time I had a "big" snorkeling trip was on vacation in Maui a few years back. I'd prefer to live under water than on the ground.

I very much want to get my fins wet again!

Lastly my favorite fish is the Yellow Tang :)

Welcome! We can't compete with Hawaii for snorkeling, but Catalina has better water clarity than the mainland and some awfully smug fish that'll come right up to you. Especially if you bring some frozen peas.

I'm due to return to Catalina. Haven't been in maybe 20 years. I remember seeing Garibaldies and nothing else though hah.
