I'm very new to diving and 59. Kind of a late start but... I have 11 pool dives and will be certifying in Bonaire January 6, 2012. Can't wait!! From my first dive in the pool I became addicted and kicked myself for not starting earlier in life so I have a lot to make up for.

Welcome, enjoy your diving in warm, tropical waters. Keep up your skills locally at Dutch Springs and when you travel, you will appreciate it even more. Good luck with your class and certification in Bonaire.

Great to hear from another 50 something diver- I was certified at age 45, 13 years ago. My wife, same age as I am , was certified at 50. Too many fun activities are wasted on the young- but not diving. Have a great time in Bonaire, and we hope to see you out there on the salt one of these days!

Bonaire is great. I am trying to schedule a trip for Feb. I certified when I was 61 and wish I had started much earlier. You will have to join us at Dutch Springs sometime next summer.

I am 60 and didn't get certified until I was 52. Now I have 350 ocean dives and another 160 in the aquarium where I volunteer.

I have been to Bonaire 4 times for a total of 8 weeks so if you have any questions feel free to write or we could meet sometime to discuss.
