Hi,

I've been diving since 1976 both recreational and military. I moved from South Florida to Daytona Beach in 2001 and found the diving to be, well lacking. I tried diving in the springs and caverns (no cave for me) boring. I tried the Atlantic Ocean (25 miles out, low vis). Made several trips to the Caribbean expensive and frankly a PITA to travel with dive gear. I guess I just lost the thrill and pretty much stopped diving around 2007. Recently I was cleaning out our closets (yeah I know) and went through my dive stuff, which has motivated me to start back up. So I'm immersing myself (so to speak) in the Dive community to catch up on things.

Thanks

Doug

Way to go! :cool3: Once bitten you can never be free (of the scuba bug.) The severity of PITA is inversely proportional to desire.

Hello Doug...I'm in Cocoa Beach...same dive situation. I don't particularly enjoy the off shore ledges either. I usually head south. Occasionally the near shore ledges below Sebastian clear up nicely, mostly a summer event but for the most part it's Jupiter and south. The drive is a pain. Usually make it an over night or 2 or 3 event

Thanks everyone. I miss diving, but at that time I thought that it was time to hang up my fins. A friend of mine moved to Jupiter and said that the diving is pretty good, so I'm getting excited again. Problem is finding someone to service my old Dacor Viper Tec reg, looks like Orlando or Jacksonville (hopefully parts are available). Even though I have a lot of experiance as a diver, I think I should take a refresher course or at least a checkout dive in a pool before jumping in the big pond. I lived in Ft. Lauderdale where I could just do a beach dive (day or night) and reach the 1st or 2nd reef. That's about the only thing I miss about South Florida.
