Hello everyone! I am in the process of completing my PADI dive course and cannot wait to buy all my own equipment so I can dive comfortably! Does anyone know what the best wetsuits are for women? Preferably not black but it doesn't matter. I just tried on a 'Probe iDry' yesterday and it was so comfortable!

Thanks!

Hi Milkcloud, It sounds like you have already found a great suit, it basically comes down to fit and thickness. Most around here use 5mm, although people who really feel the cold can opt for thicker. I prefer a 5mm and then layer a hooded vest in the winter.

Best thing to do is to visit a bunch of shops and try on as many suits as possible.

There are a number of posters who participate in the 'Australia' forum and there is a fairly active bunch of Brisbane divers.

Enjoy your course!!

Thanks! How do I join the Australian scuba forum? I am still trying to work out how to use this app.

From the forum list, scroll down to "regional forums" then "Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Islands" then "Australia"

Or try this. Australia

Trust me, once you familiarise yourself with this site you will probably loose a few days just reading the huge amount of information on here!

Welcome!
Regarding wet suits- go with what fits. Women who are very curvy do best with stretchy wet suits or custom fit wet suits. My wife is a fan of her custom made Monterey Bay Divers wet suit as it fits her like a glove.

Ask for information, and your friends here at Scubaboard will really help you with information that would otherwise be difficult to gather. If you ask for opinions... wow! you will get lots of opinions.

But we are all friendly and happy to have you join us. Welcome!

Thanks guys! I am still trying to work out this site. In regards to the wetsuits, I want something colourful or Camo, I found a company..'Nemo wetsuits' they do custom suits and they look awesome. I'm just wondering if they are good quality.

I will Definitely have a look at Monterey bay wetsuits. One questions though, the Probe iDry suites tried on has a layer of what feels like a fluffy blanket on the inside that helps it dry really fast. Could you please ask your wife what her custom suit has on the inside and if it is stiff/soft and if it dries quickly?

Thank you so much for your help!

I have a Beauchat ladies 7/5 mm suit and I love it. Very comfy, but the only way to get a comfy suit is to try lots of them on. Mine feels a bit 'stiff' out of the water (given how thick it is :D) but is great once I'm in the sea, and that's all that matters.

My wife bought hers from Adreno here in Brisbane (which I would wager is where HEG got hers from given it is Beauchat). She has a Cressi 5mm which she is diving over here in the Philippines now (where the water is 26-28 degrees). Back home, that is her summer suit and in winter she wears a skin, and a Beauchat (I think) 7mm Farmer John. She is a skinny thing and really feels the cold, though! Try lots on is good advice. You might hold off on a custom suit until you know what thickness you are comfortable in at what temperatures?

You are in an AWESOME part of the world for diving, so you're going to love being a diver 'round here!!!
