Hi guys, my names Ben, although Cheesey usually will suffices!

Me and my girlfriend both left our jobs 10 months ago to travel Asia and we haven't looked back since. A review of the budget 3 months ago turned up a decent lump spare to burn, and I've always been interested in diving.

We did our OW SSI in Koh Tao, Thailand with a truly excellent instructor and dive shop. We proceeded to the Perhentian Islands in Malaysia to do our advanced OW with another excellent shop, in preparation for Sipadan. Did 6 dives there in Borneo with a good outfit, Sipadan was completely mind blowing. Now just finished 9 fun dives in Tulamben, Bali, which has been incredible, although I could pick holes with the dive shop here. But it is cheap :). So 24 dives in total

We plan to do a 3 day liveaboard in Komodo, and we have a 3 day liveaboard booked in Cairns. So maybe around 45 dives by the time we head home.

I'm at the stage now where I feel like I want to hone and practice some of the skills, I feel comfortable in the water and I couldn't ask more of my girlfriend, my dive buddy. I would like to practice nav in particular, but all of the dives we have done and intend to do in Asia are guided. I believe the GBR will be unguided but relatively straightforward

Should I bother right now? Have potentially 10 dives to go on soon. Or wait to see if I get into it when I'm back home in the UK (if I can afford it). It feels a bit odd to ask a DM/instructor/guide who probably knows the site incredibly well if I can do the nav lol. Should probably stop thinking about it and think about the amazing marine life!

Either way I'm loving the underwater world, wrecks in particular!
