Well, I've been reading allot of the threads posted here on Scubaboard as an outsider. Great opinons, and advice from many experienced individuals. So, I figured I best register and hopefully get to know members as I travel and could possibly meet up with a group at some point in time.

About myself, as a kid I grew up on the Columbia river near Bonneville Dam, A great place to grow up, Everything outdoors you can imagine. But one thing always tugged at me, The water, call me a fish, I was always within sight. I once saw a diver bringng up weights and lures in teh prime shore fishing areas and thought what a great thing to do, I then accompanied a commercial fisherman friend who had hired a diver to lash sunken logs off the bottom of river where they drift net and was amazed even though I distinctly remember this guy freezing as he got back into the boat. As time passed I went another direction and eventually went into the Navy. While Stationed at NAS North Island in 1991, I signed up for a Naui class. Diving La Jolla area , boat diving Catalina. From there it was off to Japan for 10 years, where deployments took me to Bali, Thailand, the Philippines, The persian gulf. All great diving areas. After retirement I had a lul and didn't dive for 5 years until my new job took me to Africa, I was there for 5 months, and heard about the diving. Did some inquiries and figured since I hadn't dove for a long period why not re-certify? PADI was the agency available so wahla, I certified PADI and dove the reefs there. After traveling to a couple other locating whith no diving available, I ended up in Tooele, Utah. I heard about diving in the state and looked up the local dive shop. Never freshwater diving, I asked a few questions and arranged a refresher course and check out dive. I must say what a unique place with altitude, themal vents and even the Homestead Crater in Midway. I must say the group I met there were great and look forward to staying in touch with them. Well, that brings me to current times where I'm heading back to Califirnia for a few months and look forward to some lake and ocean diving with fellow divers who I might meet while here on Scubaboard. One day I would like to go back to my old stomping grounds of the Columbia River and just see what the divers was seeing when I was a kid. Glad to be here
