Hello. I am new to SCUBA diving and got my Advanced Certification and will be working towards my Night Diving specialty certification this month. I am looking for buddies to go diving with so I can build my skills and more importantly meet new friends and just have fun. I am trying to get my wife to get into diving but she claims she is not a strong swimmer. Thank you.

Welcome to ScubaBoard. You should visit SoCal , lots of locals post there.

Covina, very close to me! Think about joining some local clubs as well. Say, we are diving this Saturday in the dive park in Catalina, maybe a good way to meet other local divers.

Welcome to the 'board!!!!!!!!

Like Dave "teamcasa" said, feel free to drop on down to your local forum and join in the fun: http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/socal/ You will never run out of dive buddies here.
On a second note, make sure it's your wife's idea to dive not just your's... it just works better.

Hope to see you in the water someday soon! Dive safe and enjoy!

welcome aboard

Hey come have some fun with us!! We will have a club dive on Saturday, October 11th! Plan to meet at the north end of Heisler Park at 7:45am. We will check conditions and decide on the site from there.

Or you & a friend are always welcome to come to our monthly club meeting this October 15 at the Newport Beach Tennis Club at 7:00PM. This month our speaker is Andy Sallmon on Shark Diving!!

Welcome and enjoy your time on the forum, lots of great information and lots of wonderful fellow diviers here! My husband is my dive buddy and I love it! Nice sport to do together, I don't think you have to be a strong swimmer as much as you have to be comfortable in and under the water. Fins are an amazing asset! You'll love night diving!

Hi Riverratt18,

Welcome to SB! We dive at Catalina Island a couple times a month. We're working on some trips to San Diego for 2009 as well. Maybe you could meet up with us?

Congratulations on your Advanced Certification. I hope you enjoy night diving, I sure do!

Good morning and thank you so much for responding to my post Tina. Catalina is a beautiful place to dive. That is where I did my advanced certification. The night diving was alot of fun and very different. But lot's of fun. I would love to do it again. I have signed up to do my Rescue Certification as well as my Navigation specialty certification. I would love to do a San Diego trip. My wife and I love San Diego. Please keep me in the loop for the San Diego trips. I am thinking about joining a local dive club called Sole Searchers. I am so looking forward to meeting new friends and dive buddies. My wife is excited for me and I think if she is around a bunch of divers she might feel more comfortable and willing to try it. Thank you again and look forward to hearing back from you.

Sincerely,
Jon

Thank you everyone for replying. I am new to SCUBA Board so please bear with me while I try to figure out all this stuff. I am thinking about joining a local dive club called Sole Searchers. I have heard some great things about them. I guess that would be the best way to start. Thank you again everyone for replying and I look forward to really getting into this.

Sincerely,
Jon
