Get the DAN insurance. Last year my wife had a diving accident and spent 24 hrs over three days in the hyperbaric chamber on Cozumel. I can't imagine what that would have cost without insurance.
Every diver needs to have DAN dive insurance, sure, but the chances of needing medical help and maybe evacuation on land are also significant. DAN membership includes Travel Assist transportation benefits, and some of their dive insurance plans offer $10K for accidents, but there are many other risks to cover. My medical coverage does not cover me outside of the US so I also take Trip Insurance that does.

Looks like some of the Canadian insurers are starting to cover Covid expenses now. The policy my wife carries which had totally dropped just about all coverage last spring has informed her Covid is now covered to some extent (we haven't checked just what's covered) & I got this notice today. (I don't have it & never did but the notice came).

Manulife is also the insurer for Costco members. We found out that their out-of-country emergency medical coverage includes covid in countries like Mexico where there is a government travel advisory. However, they told us that they were changing their policy in mid-October. Unfortunately the person we spoke with didn't know how their policy would be changing. So we are waiting until we know how that goes. Since I have a permanent resident card, I figure if push comes to shove, I could buy local Mexican health insurance...
