Staying and diving at Azure Scuba. Anyone stayed/dove with them?

The posts here seem to indicate just a few dives per trip to Apo Island? Why is that?

Is the whale shark trip a good use of time and money? Seems pretty cool to me.

TIA for any info.

If you're lucky you should get at least three dives at Apo island.

The place I stayed on Negros Oriental was about as close as you could get to Apo Is. and it took around 30 mins to get there, travel time from further north will take longer, add on first dive briefing and fluffing around for the disorganised divers, etc.

60 min dive x 3 + 60 min SI x 2 and it's time to head back

I had a great time at Azure on land and underwater. I was there off season and was the only overnight guest all week. The restaurant stayed busy though, with local guests coming in for meals and parties. A full hot breakfast was included in the room price and I often had lunch and dinner there, too. It's a little far to town, but the staff arranged a tuk tuk for just a few dollars whenever I wanted to go.

My room was comfortable, with strong AC, Plenty of electric outlets so I could charge all my dive equipment each night. Water pressure was a bit anemic, but the shower was hot.

The diving was quite good, even off season. I travel a lot to dive, so I'm pretty picky. I did 15 dives there. I never dove with more than 2 other divers and Ricky, the guide. Ricky knows where every creature in Dauin can be found. All the dive sites were just a few minutes away, maybe 5 minutes or less. Conditions were very good, almost no current, most dives were 50-60 feet, visibility was okay, maybe 40-50 feet, but it was offseason. Dauin is famous for muck diving, so many dives were over volcanic sand, but the crazy marine life is why you go there. There are also some really great reefs mixed in. I never tired of the dives, there was always something really interesting every dive.

I enjoyed Dauin and Azure very much and will definitely consider visiting again.

Apo island was absolutely phenomenal. I didnt expect it to be so beautiful, nor did I expect the current to be so crazy. Dive 2 was somewhere around what is called coconut point. The DM said it would be a chill drift....No. Not a chill drift. It was as close to being in a washing machine as i ever had been, it was a full moon to boot, a windy day where a system was coming through, and I have never experienced anything like it. Up current/down current, blown up the reef shore, and down the reef walls. One of the few times i got nervous about becoming caught in something feirce and disappearing from the group. It was wild

I did a dive like that at Verde Island, you could see that it was a washing machine from the surface.
