I took this picture Snorkeling off of Waikiki, last August, but I have no clue what it is. I can ID most of my stuff, as I keep aquariums, but not this guy!

I'm leaning towards the Pearl Wrasse, based on the lack of spotting on the head, and the lack of a tail stripe. It is also more overall red than the Psychedelic Wrasse, although I did bump the saturation a bit in photoshop.

As for the shape, I'm claiming distortion from shooting downward on a turning fish. In any case, I never thought it could be a Wrasse! I'm used to those 2 inch wrasses in the fish store :)

This was very much inshore in some surge, so it also makes sense there. It was actually just the other side of the Pier from Walls.
