I'm heading to Maui in early September and starting to get my act together.
I understand water temps should be nice and toasty, but I'd like to have some sort of full suit for abrasion protection at the least.
What's the suggestion? lycra/ .5mil microprene?

We'll be snorkeling and diving.
Thanks!

Depends on how easily cold you get and how many dives you're doing, but when I was there it was 80 degrees. And 3mm was used by most, and 5mm for people who get cold easily. When I was snorkeling, I just put on a t-shirt and swim short. But while diving, I appreciated the 3mm.

A 3/2 can be used year round - just add a hood in the winter. If you spend a lot of time in the water, after a while you will begin to get chilled.

Thanks!
I've already got a nice fitting scubapro 3mil.
so maybe a skin for snorkeling then. I like saving energy and keeping the sun off my bright white self.
