Hello all,

I am new to the board, I have just retired from the commercial enviroment and am having a ball in the rec arena. I have an inspiration and absolutely love it. I have extensive experience in the military and the commercial sector on the marks, lars and cis lunar units but must say for what I'm up to now the inspiration is a perfect fit. Does anyone have any info on the evolution? Would like to get my wife a ccr but shes a only about 5'3 and the inspiration is to large for her, shes diving a dolphin and my old larV in the shollws. Is the evolution going to be similar in size to the dolphin? Any info greatly appreciated.

The Evolution has been shown at various shows around the US and Europe, but last I heard it still hasn't received CE approval nor is it in production yet.

There is another thread here regarding it with some info APD sent me and some more that was published in a dive mag.
Pictures of the unit are on the pages of Millenium Divers in Fl
and Janwillem's.

Am on the road using another computer, if you need links send me a message and I get them to you when I get home. :)

Are you sure you want an ECCR, or would you perhaps consider adapting the Dolphin KISS-style for your wife? (Perhaps this has already been done?:D )

Or perhaps using a Juergensen Marine SMA-1 conversion to make an ECCR KISS?

Let me tell you how envious I am that you both can share this great pastime together! Cool! Have fun! :)

Thanks for the help

I am open to all options. She already has a dolphin, just looking for closed unit smaller than the inspiration.

Again thanks

According to APD, the Evolution will be coming one of these days. It's about two third's of the Inspirations size, running on 2 ltr instead of 3 ltr tanks. As for the scubber's duration (2hrs, 2kg).

As mentioned, they've been travelling the dive show circuit for a while. Saw it at DEMA, looks good and small. Assuming the only difference between the Inspiration and the Evolution is the size of tanks and scrubber, the price will be almost the same. The prototypes had jacked style bc rather than the Inspiration's wingstyle, I don't know if that would affect the price.

There was a 'first dive' article in the German dive magazine 'tauchen', written by Walter Comper. He is supposed to write one on that unit for Advanced Diver Magazine. Might want to look out for that.
He dove one of the prototypes, the following specs were given in the article: 2 litre tanks (instead of 3 on the Inspiration), scrubber size 2 kg (instead of 2,25kg), weight 22 kg.

For size comparrison check out the following link:

Some pictures of the Evo from the Boot tradeshow in Germany:

Unfortunately that's just about all the info I've got.
You can always bug APD for more. :D
