I myself have never knowling been bent. I've been tired and sore after a day of diving but since I have never knowingly got the bends I don't know what it feels like. So I'm looking for stories about getting the bends. What kind of dive were you doing, how deep, equipment used, how did it feel, how long did it take to recover, things like that.

Please share your bent stories with the Board for.

Thanks,

Mrjoe

This is often discussed in the "Accidents and Incidents" forum.

See this thread in particular: http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=117395&highlight=bent

or search for "bent" for more.

Thank you for the reply, I was just looking for personal stories from fellow members and just open up a new discussion on the subject. I've seen that thread an others and they have great information, but it's no fund to always rely on past threads.

As a diver who has been there I can offer this much. We grew up with Sea Hunt and Lloyd Bridges rolling in pain on the deck bent every episode (or so it seemed). It is not always like that.

The reality is that Decompression Illness symptoms may be Mild, Moderate or Severe (one or more of the following):
Weakness
Fatigue
Vague barely noticeable ache
Sharp intense pain
Pins and Needles (as if you could feel a difference)
tingling
numbness
shortness of breath
paralysis
Red blotches
Itching
Headache
Death (usually severe)
Bottom line is each case is different depending on the person and where the bubble or bubbles are and how big they are.

I've never been bent but I have been told to get that way on several occassions.

Death (usually severe)
I would have to agree that death would be very severe.
