Indeed. My dad was a hero. He was a marine Torpedo bomber pilot during WWII and then a helicopter pilot for a MASH unit during the Korean conflict. He was shot down a few times, that took a toll on him physically as well as mentally. He died from a piece of shrapnel that was left near his heart eight years after he left the Corp.
