Has anyone dove the wreck "Troydon" off Block Island? She's a 90' clam boat that sunk in 135ft., 8miles off Block Island in September, 1995.

Thanks, JC

Thanks for the reply. What shape is the wreck in? Good dive - good vis? Is she upright? About 135ft, right? Have a friend with a tuna boat out of BI soI looked it up on the chart. Used to work on commercial boats so it seemed like an interesting dive.

thanks. jc

I used to go dive Block Island a lot when I was kid, even before Father Berrigan was arrested by the FBI there. You need carbon dating to figure out this time frame. I don't envy you living in RI - I live in my own resort here in southern Florida, but I do miss that diving off Fisher's Island, the Sound, and Block Island.

The wreck is just OK. She was upright, bow canted upward with a list to starboard at about 40 degrees if my memory serves me right. The vis is usually good but dark. IMHO, if I’m going to venture that far from shore and the conditions are good enough to do so, then I’m going to the Bass or the Acid Barge. It’s a dive to do to say; “been there, done that”. Again . . . . That’s just one dude’s opinion.

Be Safe,
Dennis
