Hi Everyone and Happy New Year to all of you !!!
I wanted to let you know that I enjoyed my New Year's in Santo Domingo, Republic Dominican. The hole city was lit up with fireworks... It was beautiful !!!! The city had closed the street in front of our hotel and there was a band that played till 7:00 am !!
People were very nice there and the water is beautiful....
My husband and I rented a car from Santo Domingo and drove southwest to Barahona, we stayed in a beautiful small and cheap resort called "Hotel Costa Larimar".
The food was great and the people very nice, but the dive shop there has closed....
We looked for something else in that area, but had no luck.
We spent a couple days in Barahona, and ended up driving down to the Haitti boarder where the Haitti market is... the kids surrounded us there, and I gave them American coins.... had lots of fun, I don't know if anyone of them have ever seen an American nickle or penny before !!! Although, we had fun, I don't advise doing this..... the roads are very dangerous......
We ended up driving back to Santo Domingo and spent New Years there.
Had a very nice time and an experience to remember,
If anyone is thinking about doing this.... remember to bring your tanks with you and buy lots of car insurance !!!
Happy and safe diving 2007 !!!!
