HALIBUT HUNT July 10 & 11

We have an awesome Scuba Halibut Hunt scheduled for July 10th and 11th... 1 1/2 day trip to the Channel Islands on one of the BEST boats in the business.

We leave Thursday night and return Saturday afternoon...

OK so this is a SCUBA trip. Which I am certified so thats not a problem.

My only questions are how deep a dive is it? Will a pole spear work for this size fish? And, since I will be alone, will there be anyone there to point me in the right direction?

Halibut hunt dives can be anywhere from 80 - 5 ft deep. You should consider being very comfortable and fairly experienced to chance dealing with a 20-40 lb fish while on scuba. They can be a hand full once shot any you would be attached to it as well! Pole spear, not the weapon of choice, but some experienced guys will do it. It really all depends on your experience level with Scuba. The trip is designed for guys who have Scuba experience first, then the opportunity to learn how to hunt. So yes there are guys there that will give you tips and direction, but hunting tends to be a solo sport and the crew looks for attendees to be sound in Scuba skills first and foremost... This is diving in the Northern Channel Islands... very raw, untammed dive territory.
