maybe i should haveposted this here first,
so i just picked this halcyon canister up relatively cheap, havent got it yet, seller says its a "14W" (?) bulb, i think he means a 10W bulb also comes with a "power sonic" battery and charger, my question is can i drop a new halcyon battery in there with a new more powerful light head (yeah i know the price of the halcyon batteries and bulbs) should i want to? pricey, yes, worth it? we'll see when it comes , im struggling to see what model it is, any ideas? looks possibly like an older proteus/explorer?

You sure that the seller didn't mean it was a Pro14. That would be one of the old 50 W halogen lights. I can't tell from the picture, but it appears it might be one. The charger does not appear to be one Halcyon used for the NiMH packs. If it is a Pro 14, it is a big cannister.

Looks like the Pro-6 with the 10 watt HID, same one I have. The ballast on the light head indicates its a 10 watt.

Batteries are easy to get and cheap. Buy 2 UB-1234, they are alarm batteries.

To replace them you just need to remove the plastic pieces off of the old batteries, resolder a couple wires and your all set for another couple years.

Your'e right, there is a ballast on the light head. I didn't see that earlier. My eyes must be going.

so, the consensus is that is a proteus-6, 10W hid depending on the bulb of course, also anyone know of a good place to pick up replacement parts for these, o-rings, lighteads, switches etc?
