Is Halcyon the only company that makes a notebook with a soft cover and a clear plastic pocket to put tables in? Thanks.

Salvo and Dive Xtras both make soft covered wet notes and I sell them both. The salvo doesn't have a clear window and I am not sure about the dive xtras, mostly just sell Salvo.

the Halcyon is built like a brick outhouse, that's for sure... but dang... it's pricey

don't know about the others

The Dive X-Tras notebook does not have a clear window either.

The ones I sell are less expensive that the Halcyon one and are built very well.

Golem has a nice one as well. No clear window.

I have the H notes. They are of very solid build, very rugged, but the downside is they also take a lot of space in the thigh pocket. Are other brands more compact?

For binding they use 4 small zipties so you can replace pages easily. I have only seen the cover of x-notes and it seemed less rugged - but maybe it would be more compact?

I'd like to hear a critical comparison from someone who has used both the H brand and one of the others. Also, I've noticed the others I've seen (ipics only) have a different binding. Is it still possible to add in pages to them or do you just replace the whole book every once in a while with them?

Zip ties to hold the paper together sounds like a real rugged build. ;)

The Golem's are nice, spiral bound so you can't add pages (replace the internal notebook).
The Ritchies are okay (not as nice a binding as the Golem) but they have the plastic window (front and back) and cost a fraction of the others.

Golem gets my vote for the time being.

I have the DiveRite underwater notebook. It's cheap and is spiral-bound--but I'm cheap and spi...well maybe not that last one. ;)
